Today’s Devotional
"Let Me Be Your Shepherd And You Shall Not Want..."
Let Me Clear Your Mind.
Other times, you may want to clear your mind but there are just too many things that are inevitable to think about. You may try to keep yourself preoccupied but nothing seems to be working. You may be working a career, taking care of a family, or having a lot of other responsibilities. Though you try to rest, it still feels as if there is a desperate need for you to have mental rest. You want to stop thinking about things that are out of your control and you can’t fix. Mostly as an adult person with responsibilities you are in a never-ending cycle of working out things. You may be doubting yourself and you constantly think you are not doing good enough. You may be doing too much because you think you should be doing something for everyone else. You may be a mother, and you still want to do all the chores, train your kids well, take care of the family properly and still manage to create a good stable life. You often worry about the uncertainty the future holds and you are trying to fix it. You may be comparing yourself with your peers and think you are terribly failing. My child, you need rest for your thoughts.
Though you may stress about all these things, remember that I made you perfectly in my image and I am the one who gave you these blessings in your life, because I knew you would be able to handle them properly. The enemy may lie to you that you are not capable of doing much and he may put you in a constant blame game, but it will go only as far as you let him. My precious one, though you worry about the future, can you add even a single hair to your head? Your constant worry shows your lack of trust and belief in me. I have taken care of you since you were a child, and your life has just been unfolding before you, why do you feel like now you want to take charge? I know the desires of your heart, and when you ask I will give them to you at the right time.
Believe What Is True.
My beloved one, whenever you find yourself being restless, spend time knowing what I say to you. All the space that should be taken up by my truth in you is vacant, distractions and lies take advantage of those spaces and that is why you find your mind is filled with fear and unhelpful clutter. Put on my armor so that when the enemy approaches you, you will be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand right, I will help you buckle the belt of truth around your waist.
My child, come to me when you are burdened and heavy laden, I will refresh your soul. Keep my word in your heart as a child would, the promise of its parents. Let my word be a song to your ears, that which you will speak when the need arises. My word is life and a double-edged sword, with it you have all authority to claim what I have given to you. Delight in my word and instruction and meditate on it day and night. You will be like a tree that is planted by streams of water, where you yield your fruit in your season, and your leaf does not wither, whatever you do prosper.
Reflect On These Words Today:
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
(Deuteronomy 31:8)
