Today’s Devotional
"It Is A Faithful Thing To Do, Using All your Effort To Help Your Brothers And Strangers..."
Hosting Others Is A Gift.
Offering an invitation for someone to stay in your home and being invited for a stay can be nerve-wracking for all the people involved. Hosting someone is part of allowing someone into your space, which most people protect. It is very easy to flare up on people when hosting because sometimes you may feel your boundaries have been crossed. However, manners are a good way of showing others you care about them. Whether you are hosting someone or are being hosted, you want those around you to feel comfortable and at ease.
Beloved, I call you to care for others, no matter how hard it can be. You may be complaining that your resources are not enough, or you do not have enough room for hosting someone, but these are the least of what is important. Regardless of what you have, you can learn to open your home and heart to others. When you serve others, you are ultimately serving me and you are ushering in blessings that will overflow from your cup in abundance.
Not everyone is born with the ability to be great when dealing with other people, your personality may even be different. During these moments ask me to give you the desire to reach out to others, through being kind and hosting them when you can. Do not spend time resenting all the inconveniences that can be involved, serving others is a spiritual act of worship. My child, I will open your eyes to those around you whom I want you to serve and I will give you the ability to bless them just as I hope you will. Take time to fellowship with others when hosting them, because where three or more are gathered, there I will be.
Sacrifice Yourself Sometimes.
When you are hosting people in your home, your role is to facilitate the stay and prepare everything that will be needed. Sometimes, you don’t have much to give, but you are willing to share what you have. Hosting someone makes you think of someone else other than yourself, and for their stay period, you are mostly concerned about their well-being. When you have a guest, you want to give them very little pressure, so you may end up allowing a lot of things to slide which is a key aspect of living with others.
Becoming selfish can be so easy and can happen unknowingly. It is by always putting your needs first that you do not have any room to think and consider anyone else. Just as when hosting, you should place yourself in positions that constantly require you to serve others. My child, I have always taken you in whenever you have sought my refuge. Serve others with goodwill, just as you would me.
Precious one, do not neglect hosting others because some have entertained angels unawares. You cannot say you love me, yet you act differently towards your neighbor. I will always fill your life with abundance, which you need to share with those in need. I will open the flood gates of heaven and will let blessings fall because of your kind heart. My child, find joy in the little things, which often are not material, but are found within the hearts of people.
Reflect on These Words Today
“Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever”
(1 Peter 4:11)
