"Do Not Let The Sun Go Down When You Are Angry..."
Choose To Live In Peace
It is easy to let the frustrations you get in life get the better of you, but the reality is if you handle any situation with anger, it doesn’t mean that it is reversible. To be angry is not a sin, but how you choose to react to the anger can result in it. Often situations get worse by how you handle them. You may be working in an office where information about you is passed on and you are sure that it is false, instead of waiting to calm down and address the issue in a more civilized way, you choose to go ahead fighting and insulting everyone to look tough, does that really solve the matter or it adds to your self-disrespect and a poor presentation of me. You may also be choosing to bottle your anger up because you don’t want to offend anyone, but that can quickly turn to resentment and bitterness, which separates you from me.
My child, I know the motives of your heart, and I am not fooled by your outward appearance, accept to share your struggles and open yourself up to correction, that way I can free you from sin. You may refuse to be corrected, but the path you may follow without correction may be more dangerous, whoever hates correction surely dies. Pride may tell you to stand your ground and be defensive, but through discipline and humility, I will draw you closer to me.
You may have been upset for so long that you don’t even realize that you are still angry. You may be angry because of things that were done to you, maybe even as a child, and you may not even be aware that it still affects you. Although you attempt to be loving, you may still be hard and harsh. I know you love me, but I want you to allow me to do things my way and help you. Ask for self-control where the need is, so that you may not act against me and displease me. There is a way to be angry and not sin, and that is by making a decision about what you are going to do with your anger before it gets out of control.
My child, you have to respond to conflict with wisdom. When you are wise you will fear me and you will not want to dishonor me with your actions. You have to think before you speak and work to prevent the consequences of sin. Be patient with your dealings and learn from me. If I ever reacted to every offense you have done in equal measure, then surely you would have perished. I have shown you mercy and kindness by allowing grace to cover your wrongdoing. Look up to me when you are offended and tell me about it, I will soften your heart and I will help put the situation in check. With your own strength, you will be vulnerable, but when you rely on me, you have all you need. Choose to be more disciplined in your response, as you pray every day for the transformation of your mind. I am slow to anger, and it is best if you follow this lead. I am slow to anger because of my love for you, therefore your love for others should motivate you to control your anger and forgive.
Reflect On These Words Today:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.”
